Andrew Farrer

Following studies in Zoology and Anthropology in the UK, Andrew moved to Australia to study a PhD at the Australian Centre for Ancient DNA (ACAD) at the University of Adelaide. He has always been fascinated by human history and biology, and his studies have combined these interests. In his Ph.D. he uses advanced ancient DNA lab methods and genetic analyses to reveal the history of the human microbiota, the bacterial community that lives on the human body and plays critical roles in our everyday health. Andrew helped to develop, and works with, the ACAD outreach program and loves to present his research in public and schools as he is passionate about science engagement.
