Lauren Houthuysen

Lauren enjoyed science in high school and followed this interest by studying environmental science at Flinders University, where she was awarded the Aboriginal Groundwater Scholarship from the Department of Environment, Water and Natural Resources (DEWNR). This set her path on hydrogeology – the study of groundwater. Lauren has combined her love of the outdoors and her passion for science (and rocks) into her career with DEWNR, working with other STEM professionals in the field and with the state’s data collections. As an Aboriginal woman, Lauren promotes the importance of cultural awareness in science and water management and when collaborating with Aboriginal communities.
